The United Arab Emirates (UAE), the current Chair of IORA, will convene the Eleventh Bi-annual CSO meeting on 15 – 16 June 2021 virtually with the support of the IORA Secretariat.
The meeting will bring together IORA’s 23 Member States and its Specialised Agencies. This CSO will be the fourth and last CSO meeting under the chairship of the UAE.
The meeting will take stock of the progress made to date under the six priority and two cross-cutting areas of the Association. Member States will also update preparations for forthcoming events and meetings of IORA’s institutional mechanisms, as well as IORA’s engagement with its Dialogue Partners, International partners, and special programmes, considering the ongoing impact of COVID-19.
The UAE assumed the position of Chair of IORA in November 2019 with the theme for its two-year period - “Promoting a Shared Destiny and Path to Prosperity in the Indian Ocean”, and will be handing over the Chairship to the People's Republic of Bangladesh later this year.
