The 25th Meeting of the Indian Ocean Rim Business Forum (IORBF) will take place virtually on Tuesday 20 October 2020, at 1000-1200 (GMT+4). The event will be chaired and hosted by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and will be held as part of the virtual Annual Investment Meeting (AIM).
As Chair of the IORBF, the UAE is pursuing the theme of ‘Pathways to Prosperity: Regional Integration and Opportunities for the Private Sector’. The meeting will welcome the new Chair of the IORBF, His Excellency Humaid Ben Salem, Secretary General of the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FCCI).
The meeting will involve a review of the progress achieved, notably the implementation of IORA’s Trade and Investment Facilitation agenda, since the previous meeting of the IORBF held on 18 June 2019 in Durban, South Africa. It will also consider new ways for the IORBF to engage the private sector and realize its potential as a voice and tool for business in the region. Business leaders from regional chambers of commerce and industry and trade experts will discuss business needs in the Indian Ocean region and how beset to work with governments to address them.
All participants and observers are required to register to participate in the IORBF. Registered participants will have access to join the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) virtual sessions.
