Courtesy visit by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Mauritius with residence in Madagascar, Mr Harald Gehrig.

The IORA Secretariat had the honor to welcome Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Mauritius with residence in Madagascar, Mr Harald Gehrig, on 17 October 2018, accompanied by Dr Thomas Krimmel, GiZ Project Director.

Discussions touched on the upcoming 18th IORA Council of Minister's Meeting (COM) to be held on 31 Oct - 2 Nov 2018 in South Africa and the active role that Germany has undertaken with its initiative to strengthen IORA capacities in the Priority Areas of Maritime Safety and Security and Disaster Risk Management.

 

Ambassador Gehrig expressed keen interest in the activities of IORA, including its soon-to-be increased membership and stated that Germany looks forward to furthering its cooperation with IORA in areas of mutual interest. He extended an invitation to the Secretary General of IORA to the celebrations of the Day of German Unity on Monday, 22 October 2018.
