This webinar is organised to mark International Women’s Day and will focus on the strategic partnerships and enabling environment required to dramatically increase the participation of women in deep-sea research globally.
IORA is committed to empowering women in everything it does, including Academic, Science and Technology cooperation. IORA’s past activities have included research on women in the blue economy (2015 and 2019), and women in fisheries (2019), in the Indian Ocean region.
“The voice and agency of women is critical to achieving the 2030 Agenda. Women have a key role to play in conducting marine research, to improve our understanding and ability to care for the Indian Ocean,” said Acting Secretary General Dr Gunawan.
