IORA is partnering with the Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) Arbitration and Mediation Center (MARC) to establish a center for dispute resolution in the Indian Ocean region. The MCCI has launched a Request for Proposals for a regional study on dispute resolution mechanisms. Bids are due 30 April 2021.
The IORA-MCCI project titled ‘Creation of an IORA Dispute Resolution Center’ runs from 2017-2022, supported by the Government of Mauritius and the IORA Special Fund.
As part of this project, the study will shape the ultimate design of the dispute resolution center and ongoing collaboration on dispute resolution in the region. The MCCI is inviting potential project consultants to bid for the comparative study aimed at an in-depth analysis of the main mechanisms for dispute resolution through arbitration and mediation in Mauritius, South Africa, Australia, India and Singapore, with a special focus on maritime trade and foreign investment.
The closing date for the submission of tenders is 30 April 2021 at 16:00 (UTC+4 Mauritius time). The opening of Bid Date is scheduled for 1 May 2021 at the Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Please find further information, including how to submit proposals and contact points in the ‘Request for Proposal’ document.
Earlier activities in this project include expert capacity building on arbitration held in Johannesburg in February 2020.
