Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting or related field. Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent is an advantage;
  • Member of Mauritius Institute of Professional Accountant is preferable;
  • A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, finance, budget, administration, or related area is required;
  • Analytical skill and have knowledge of accounting packages like Quick Book is an advantage;
  • Ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently;
  • Exhibits the highest standards of professionalism and respect the multicultural environments;

Duties and Responsibilities

The main duties and responsibilities of the Accountant are to-

  • Prepare of the Secretariat’s’ budget;
  • Prepare of financial reports;
  • Maintain appropriate accounting records, computerized;
  • Ensure timely collection of membership contribution;
  • Ensure that all payments are duly authorized, supported by documentary evidence and effected within the required deadlines, and charged to the appropriate items of expenditure;
  • Examine monthly payroll for the Secretariat;
  • Regularly prepare reconciliations of accounts, including bank reconciliations;
  • Provide timely and reliable financial or other information to Secretary-General and Director, Corporate Affairs;
  • Monitor expenditure and ensure that budgetary provisions are not exceeded without authority;
  • Provide Director of Audit with such information and records as they may require for the performance of their respective audits;
  • Undertake major procurement for the Secretariat in line procurement regulation;
  • Prepared quarterly budget monitoring report for member states.

 

Salary Scale

MUR 30700 x 825 - 35650 x 900 - 37450 x 950 - 42200 x 1300 - 46100 x1575 - 49250 x 1650 - 54200 x 1700 - QB64400 x 1800 – 69800.
