Testimonial

The main goal of my internship at IORA was to familiarize myself with regional cooperation mechanisms, understand ongoing projects aimed at addressing these challenges, and deepen my knowledge of how international organizations operate in this context. My objective was to gain practical experience in the implementation of regional projects, particularly in combating maritime piracy, illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing, sustainable marine resource management, as well as disaster management, particularly related to climate change.

I was furthermore motivated to understand how IORA Member States collaborate to address transnational issues and how these projects can be supported by legal and regulatory initiatives. Additionally, I hoped to explore an audit directorate within the organization, a field that particularly interests me. However, I did not have the opportunity to pursue this avenue during my internship, which somewhat limited the depth of my professional expectations in this regard.

At the same time, my interest in report writing and project management played a key role in my decision to pursue this internship.

In summary, my internship at IORA represented a unique opportunity to understand how international organizations contribute to regional solidarity and how countries with sometimes divergent interests can collaborate to achieve common goals. This experience allowed me to gain a better understanding of the challenges faced by small island States, such as Comoros, and explore concrete solutions to strengthen cooperation and resilience in the face of global crises.

Happy festive season!
