The United Arab Emirates, the current Chair of IORA, will convene the Tenth Bi-annual CSO meeting on 29 June – 1 July 2020 virtually with the support of the IORA Secretariat
The meeting, which will bring together the 22 Member States, Specialised Agencies, Chair in Indian Ocean Studies (CIOS), and will be the second CSO meeting under the chairmanship of the UAE.
The meeting will take stock of the progress made to date under the six priority and two cross-cutting areas of the Association. Member States will also discuss preparations for forthcoming events and meetings of IORA’s institutional mechanisms, as well as IORA’s engagement with its international partners, and special programmes.
The meeting will also provide an opportunity for Member States to discuss preparations for forthcoming IORA events and meetings, considering the impact of COVID-19.
The UAE resumed the Chair of IORA in November 2019 with the theme for its two-year period - “Promoting a Shared Destiny and Path to Prosperity in the Indian Ocean”.
