The IORA Sustainable Development Programme (ISDP) Workshop on "Exploring Pre-emptive Disaster Risk Management Measures to ensuring Community Resilience" was held on 20-21 April 2015 in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. This workshop, implemented by Tanzania through the IORA Special Fund, emphasized a proactive approach to building resilience.

The workshop served as a vital platform for IORA countries to share experiences, ideas, and major developments in emergency preparedness. Discussions centered on strategies to reduce vulnerability to natural, environmental, and technological hazards. A key theme was the critical importance of regional and international cooperation in all phases of disaster management, from planning and prevention to response and recovery.
